Ҵýapp School of Architecture celebrates 50-year milestone
Established in 1973 by the Board of Trustees of the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning, the first class of 16 students graduated from the Ҵýapp School of Architecture in May 1978.

Graduates Elisa S. Castañeda and Lucas “Luke” T. Murray are being honored by the international Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture for their thesis project in this year’s ACSA Study Architecture Showcase.
The endowment—housed in the College of Forest Resources’ Department of Sustainable Bioproducts, with a joint appointment in the Ҵýapp’s School of Architecture—aims to drive innovation in mass timber manufacturing, construction and design, with a research emphasis on sustainable wood construction, strength and durability.
The Sho-Ping Chin Grant provided her with travel reimbursement and registration for the 2024 AIA Women’s Leadership Summit.
The fourth-year architecture student from Jonesboro, Arkansas, will receive $3,000 to conduct research for Method Studio, a Utah-based architectural design firm.
The 2012 graduate is a principal at DAVID RUBIN Land Collective.
An exhibition for the National Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month is being showcased until October 15 in the Charlotte and Richard McNeel Gallery in Giles Hall.
